A Reason To Fly

A Reason To Fly

A Poem by

I am a symbol of the American ideology
A thing of beauty to some
An inspiration to those driving prosperity
A veteran of the sky
I soar proudly over this great country
Observing all those below

Until that fateful day I say goodbye
I'll always have a reason to fly

The spirit of this nation soars with me
I know it's the truth
Underneath my wings you can rest easy
For I'll always be here

Until that fateful day I say goodbye
I'll always have a reason to fly

A grand and inspiring poem of the American Eagle. I can see the Eagle flying over the country as I read your words. But the poem has a sadness to it, 'Until that fateful day I say goodbye' makes me wonder if the Eagle is saying goodbye or perhaps the United States is saying goodbye. The poem could be about the Eagle or the United States. Anyway, I could see this poem going both ways. Very impressive work.

I think that eagles are creatures placed high on the heirarchy of beings that represent what this planet is all about.

"Underneath my wings you can rest easy
For I'll always be here"

For me, these lines explain exactly the feeling I get when I see bald eagles. They carry such power and majesty, and seem to truly be in sinc with the world. They are inspiring creatures, and I feel that you've captured that in this poem. Thank you for writing it. =)

Like the image this creates of an eagle in flight. I hope it never has to say goodbye.
