![]() The Girl Who Cried WolfA Story by grapejuiceA stallion stands alone in a field, grazing contentedly, tail flicking side to side. A high-pitched cry interrupts his serenity, forcing him to raise his head, now on high alerts. "Help!" the voice cries out, and he's already on his way to the rescue. When he arrives at the scene, he cannot believe his eyes: a lovely young mare, laying on the ground, weeping. She glances up at him, tears rolling down her face, before another sob racks through her entire body. Alarmed, he rushes to her, "Ma'am, are you alright? What happened?" And she sniffles, as she collects her bearings. "It.. it was huge! Ferocious. A-And it t-tried to kill me..." She bites her lip, pausing to choke back another sob. "What, what tried to kill you?" The stallion had taken the bait, and she turned away, hiding the smile that so badly wanted to break free. "A wolf. I've never seen one around here, why, I thought it was one of the neighbor's dogs at first..." A majority of the crying has subsided by now, though she occasionally sniffles, notifying him of her distress. "I'm just so lucky you came... the damn thing took off when it heard you coming." She looks up to him, eyes beaming. "Awh shucks, I couldn't ignore a cry for help even if I wanted to." He puffs out his chest a bit before offering to help her up, an offer which she takes gratefully. The moment she's up, however, her weak legs give out, and she's suddenly pressed up against him, using his body for support. "Oh goodness! I'm so sorry, sir." She says quickly, unsuccessfully trying to back away before falling into him again. "Don't worry about it, I'm not going to let you fall again." The stallion smiles, as Insidious nestles into him. The trap is set, and ready to snap. "My my, you're so strong. Surely such a big, handsome stallion must have a lucky lady in his life?" She feeds his ego calculatingly, watching as he melts like putty in her hooves. "No ma'am, I'm just your average plow horse. My heart belongs to the fields." The girl giggles at this, before feigning surprise as she realizes the sun is beginning to set. "Oh no, it's getting late! I need to get home, but..." She looks to him, pleadingly. "I'm so afraid to walk by myself, would you please protect me?" Insidious bats her eyelashes, and juts out her lower lip accordingly. "Of course I will." And the trap has snapped shut. Their journey isn't a long one, but when they arrive at The Vineyard, Insidious can't help herself. "I can't thank-you enough, oh how could I ever repay you?" She begins, as she presses herself against him, hugging the stallion. "It was nothing, really." He hugs her back, though she's quick to pull away and shake her head. "Now now, don't be so modest..." Now she appears to be contemplating her next move, as she the stallion up and down, a coy smile playing on her lips. He's curious now, as she walks towards him, hips swaying, half-lidded eyes focused solely on him. "Let me thank-you for everything you've done." She whispers into his ear, before leading him out to the back of the property. At first, he's eager, until she rushes ahead of him, disappearing behind one of the buildings. Confused, he runs after her, only to be met with dozens of angry glares, and Insidious, on the ground, sobbing. "What the hell is wrong with you?! Stalking this poor girl all the way home. You creep. You sicken me." One horse spits at him, while the others begin shouting in agreement. "H-He kept catcalling me. I was s-so afraid..." The mare sobs, and the mob becomes angrier. The stallion, however, is frozen in fear. "I did no such thing! She asked me to walk her home!" Insidious shakes her head, "Just go away!" She shouts, as the surrounding horses now create a barrier between her and the strange stallion. "She's lying! She's demented! How dare you, you little wench--" And the crowd closes in on him. The temptress smiles, standing slowly, going completely unnoticed as she dusts herself off and slips into the night. She certainly is a wicked little girl.
