A Pirates Spyglass

A Pirates Spyglass

A Poem by Kathryn Desautels
"

glancing through that spyglass didn't scare me away like you wished it would it made me cling to you in fear that i was going to loose you permanently

"
Onward into the sea of desperation and heartache
I set sail and you command the wind to push me farther away
in hope that I won't see the island of darkness that you reside at
but only if you knew that I had a pirates rusty spyglass
that I found in the bottom of my little fishing boat
glancing through that spyglass didn't scare me away like you wished it would
it made me cling to you in fear that I was going to lose you permanently
I realized what my parents were going through with me
collapsed into my bedroom refusing to participate in life for 6 months straight
I don't want that for you
even if you have already been there at some point in the past
as hard as that chilly storm is blowing my way
I will fight on through the bitterness and suffering of both of us
just to make sure that you are a permanent fixture in my life
at some point though
I hope the rain and bitter air will stop and you will feel close to me again
for if it goes on like this for much longer
my boat will capsize and I will drown.

I think this is a powerful poem full of vivid imagery and metaphor - nice work here. Just be careful about your spelling and punctuation, e.g. in "i was going to loose you" it should be "lose", not "loose". :)
